Comments About Joe Coles

  • I just wanted to thank you again for your wonderful presentations to our students, teachers and parents.  I walked through the halls of school yesterday and had kids “WOW”-ing me!!!!  I witnessed a 4th grader shaking hands with our maintenance volunteer, then as he walked away, moved a penny from one pocket to the other!  Our parents have taken the time to send emails to us thanking us for your presentation! –Parent In St. Louis
  • “I have attended many workshops that give good ideas for teachers.  Joe Coles’ Bullying Behavior workshop goes directly to the students.  The workshop gives teachers and students resources and strategies to be successful with a very serious problem.  This workshop is the most useful and practical in-service I could offer to our staff members.” –Mike Waters, Superintendent, Cimarron, KS Schools
  • “The students and teachers learned a great deal from Joe’s in-service.  It made a difference in our student’s attitudes and in our school’s atmosphere.  Joe has great rapport with the students and I have heard many comments form them about this being the best in-service we have had for our students.” –Dean Katt, Superintendent, Ottawa, KS
  • “Joe Coles does a phenomenal job with the Bullying Behavior workshop.  The students at all levels in our districts were very receptive to his presentation.  He relates both statistical and real-life situations to students.  The presentation is insightful and Joe interacts extremely well with the students.  He holds the interest of his audience throughout the entire presentation.” –Ron Keller, Fort Hays State University
  • “I really enjoyed the Bullying workshop.  It made me stop and think about how I am treating my peers in school and what I can do about it.” –Sophomore, Holcomb, KS High School
  • “I just wanted to say your in-service was AWESOME!!  I learned so much that I should be paying attention to as an educator.  I feel sometimes as teachers we get caught up in all the paperwork and political aspect of education that we don’t focus as much on the kids as we should.  Your in-service brought me back to reality.  I am in education for the KIDS and we need to be doing what is best for ALL kids.  They (the kids) need to hear your stories and what you have to say.  Thanks for the Great Inspiration!!!! –Shelly Turner, Principal, Scott City High School
  • “I have been meaning to tell you this and just keep forgetting.  I just wanted to let you know that I loved this speaker.  A few times, it felt like he was talking directly to us about son.  We were only able to hear him from the video and not live, but wow, he was so awesome.Anyway, thanks for being a part of bringing him here.  I wish he lived in our backyard!” –email from a freshman parent from Hays high school to their assistant principal after parent workshop
  • You recently spoke to Shelby County Schools about bullying.  You were wonderful!!  We were able to take some very easy to impliment ideas back to our school, such as having students write down what has happened to them.  This has been very helpful and makes the child realize that you are taking what they say seriously. You also confirmed some of our current practices and our serious consequences for bullying behavior. –Sharon Butz School Counselor Chelsea Middle School Chelsea, Alabama
  • The simple fact that you take the time to let us know your thoughts is so appreciated.  We went with this program because we knew you offered quality instruction and there was no doubt our kids would benefit greatly.  They really enjoyed themselves and we have received a lot of positive feedback from them, which is very complimentary to you.  Keep doing what you’re doing and always stay in touch!  Thank you for impacting LHS in such a positive way!!! –Kathy – LaCrosse High School
  • It went well.  We identified our “one thing” as increased and more random supervision.  We changed our before-school Commons supervision procedures and also made a statement about moving about in our pods rather than standing in the same place every day.  We want to maintain our good relationships between staff members, but discussed ways we can still interact with colleagues while being less “predictable” to our kids.  I would also share with you that several students have reported ongoing bullying issues since your time with us.  These are genuine issues that we have been able to deal with. Thanks for checking in…the work continues! –Deb  Andover Central Middle School
